the safe loading pass scheme

What's new - January 2009

We have updated some details of the scheme and posted them on the website's pages.

Principally the changes are:

Relevant 'summary pages' of changes and the details of the changes themselves are given in each of the Guidance documents - but if you want to see just the summaries, go to The summary of all changes page.

The changes made to the scheme's 'Guidance Notes' fall mainly into two categories:

  1. Those that simply take account of existing designs which have not been described accurately (particularly in scope)
  2. Those that initially affect new tanks and which have already been communicated to and implemented by tank manufacturers. These changes are:
    • The use of wire with a lead seal on the securing screws of each overfill prevention sensor holder, in order to determine if any changes to the sensor integrity have been made since the tank was manufactured and to identify the organisation that set the sensor
    • The fitting of a deflector plate above the footvalve in each compartment to ensure that product entering the compartment is deflected along the tank floor, in order to control the generation of the static electrical charge.
